Gloss sits on Hayes Road in Sterling Heights and pairs a nail studio with a brow and lash space, so clients can book nails, brows, lashes and waxing in one place. Nails are the larger part of the menu, with manicures, pedicures and enhancements that can be sculpted or regular.

Nail enhancements include hard gel, Gel X extensions and EMA acrylic. Nail art can be done on coffin, stiletto, almond or square shapes, and finishes include glitter, gems, chrome and unicorn powder. The Water Room offers spa-style manicure and pedicure treatments, which the salon says are 100% vegan and include antioxidant and detoxing ingredients.

Brow and lash services include brow lamination, which takes about an hour, and lash lifts, which also take about an hour. Eyelash extensions run from 30 minutes to about three hours depending on the set. Waxing takes 10 to 15 minutes and starts at $10. Fresha lists a 5.0 rating from 9,025 reviews.

Bookings are made through the Fresha app with instant confirmation and payment in the app. A non-refundable deposit is taken on every booking. Changes need at least 24 hours' notice to avoid fees and loss of the deposit, and rescheduling is available at any hour in the app. Corrections for reasonable issues must be requested within three days of the service, and no refunds are given.

Clients check in at the front desk on arrival. Arrival times may be adjusted by up to 15 minutes, and arriving more than 15 minutes late can mean cancellation and loss of the deposit if the service no longer fits the remaining time. Guests must come alone, and children and pets are not permitted. Stations are cleaned with virucide between clients, and staff wash their hands between clients.

Nail enhancements more than three weeks old may be cancelled or changed to another service, and overdue nails may carry extra charges. First-time nail enhancement clients are asked to book a new set. Removing another salon's nail product must be requested before the appointment with a booking note, and clients should arrive up to an hour early. Removal is not booked at 9 am. No stations are set up for drying toes, so non-gel pedicure polish may stay wet. The salon may refuse service to clients who do not follow its nail enhancement and etiquette standards.
