Glamour Cosmetics

Glamour Cosmetics was founded in 2015 by Garineh Ashjian, who left the legal field to pursue makeup. The studio grew from its first bride through referrals, as one client led to the next.

The studio centers on bridal work, with a signature soft glam look that is modern and glowing while staying classic. It serves brides in Boston, Cape Cod, Newport and greater New England, and has done wedding makeup in Bermuda, the Dominican Republic, Turks and Caicos, St. Lucia and Germany. A select number of destination weddings are taken each year.

When someone inquires, they are paired with an artist based on who is the right fit, and clients can ask for a specific artist, though Garineh Ashjian's time is in high demand. Brides usually book a year to a year and a half ahead, though last-minute requests are considered. Before the wedding, a trial is held at the Lexington studio for clients who have contracted with the studio. On the wedding day, the team offers touch ups and handles small needs such as tissues and minor repairs. A wedding day timeline is built working back from the ceremony.

The studio also takes commercial, editorial, film, print and runway work, along with makeup for engagement, maternity and branding photoshoots. Its commercial credits include work for Reebok with Camille Kostek, Zenni with Sam Cassell, and Mattel's Thomas and Friends. Private one-on-one workshops for makeup artists run over several weeks with a tailored curriculum and a certificate of completion, and one-day hands-on masterclasses let attendees practice on a model.

Pricing is set in two ranges, with full pricing and minimums given on inquiry. A travel fee applies, with a $75 minimum and a charge of $2 per mile one way from Boston, calculated per artist. Travel fees do not count toward service minimums. The trial is included in the package price. Gratuity is not included, and the studio suggests 20% of the total for services booked. Office hours are Monday to Thursday, 9am to 4pm Eastern.

Each client is matched with an artist and encouraged to build a comfortable working relationship rather than treating the artist only as a vendor. The studio uses traditional foundation rather than airbrush, citing coverage range and how skin looks.
