Glam Lab PDX

Glam Lab PDX started as one artist's lash business and grew into a space for independent beauty businesses. The salon is on N. Interstate, and it describes its location as being in the heart of a beauty-focused part of Portland.

Services are delivered by independent artists who each run their own business and rent a booth for $500 a month or $125 a week, or a suite for $700 to $1,000 a month. Independent artists are required to hold an active independent contractor license and a certificate or license to practice.

The salon's mission includes building economic opportunity for BIPOC women-led beauty businesses and filling gaps in beauty education. It calls itself a Black-owned salon made with Portland in mind, describes itself as one of the city's most diverse salons, and presents itself as a hub for lash education and beauty business education. The founder has been lashing since 2017 and launched her own lash product line in 2020. A dedicated kids space is available during services of 1.5 hours or shorter.

New clients complete an intake form before a first lash, wax, or facial appointment. Lash clients arrive makeup-free and keep their eyes closed for the full service, and they are asked to cleanse their lashes daily and report premature shedding within 48 hours. Fills are timed to how many extensions remain: a 2-week fill suits clients with at least half their extensions left, while a 3-week fill suits those with about 40 to 50 percent left, and under 40 percent may call for a full set. Wax clients let hair grow to about a quarter inch first. Rescheduling or cancelling with less than 48 hours' notice results in a 100% service charge, missed or cancelled appointments are not refunded, and a card may be kept on file to cover that charge.
