About

Glabrous Glamour is a small, woman-owned business that provides permanent hair removal by electrolysis. Its work is built around a professional electrolysis machine, the Instantron Elite Spectrum, rather than an at-home device.

The Elite Spectrum can be set to thermolysis, galvanic, or blend mode, and the mode can be switched partway through a session. Blend mode relies on a dual-action probe that sends alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) into each follicle, and both outputs can be tuned separately for each client and each area of the body. According to the salon, blend mode is gentler than the other methods, and many professional electrologists choose it.

The business says electrolysis works on anyone and serves people of any gender, skin tone, or hair type. It also states that hair treated during the anagen (growth) stage will not regrow from that follicle.

Before a session, clients are asked to drink plenty of water, avoid plucking or waxing, and may shave the area but should not shave in the five days beforehand. A blog post covers pre- and post-session cleansing with hypochlorous acid.

Texas does not license electrolysis practitioners individually, and no governing body issues electrolysis licenses to individuals in the state. Appointments are booked online via the website, and the studio can be reached by email or phone for questions.

Treatments are tailored to each client and body area, with settings adjusted during the session rather than fixed in advance.
