Genesis Curlz

Genesis Curlz is based in Bloomington, Minnesota, at a suite location on W 80th 1/2 St. The business works only with curly, coily and wavy textures and serves men and women. Clients do not need to know their curl type before booking.

The Revival is the signature service and the one new clients are asked to start with. It costs $240 and covers a consultation, a cut, a steam wash and a style. The business describes it as the service that leaves waves, coils and curls at their fullest.

Other options include a Dry Cut/Shaping for $85, which covers a consultation and dry cut for returning clients who typically book every one to five months, and a Wash & Style for $130, suited to special events or a styled wash day. Clients who want a low-effort wash day can book Wash & Go, a wash and style service. A cut, wash and style is booked as The Revival. A Curl Detox Treatment is available as an add-on to remove buildup from hard water and hair products and to deep condition the hair.

To get the most from a visit, clients are asked to arrive with clean, detangled, product-free and dry hair, not straight, braided or ponytailed. Color requests are no longer accepted, and straight hair is not currently taken on because the focus is curly textures. Braided styles are not a specialty, but curl care is offered once braids are taken out. Children are booked at the regular service prices, as there is no children's pricing. When appointments are full, clients can join a waitlist and receive text updates. The business is open Monday through Wednesday, 9am to 4pm.
