The Russian manicure uses a hard gel base to strengthen the nails, as an alternative to a standard gel manicure. Each appointment includes cuticle care using an e-file, manicure tools or both, a gel foundation, shaping, and gel polish in one or two colors, and finishes with a hydrating lotion.
At the Upper West Side, the Russian Manicure UWS includes precise cuticle care, removal of existing gel polish, hard gel strengthening and a choice of gel color. It is $100 with a Top Tech and takes two hours, or $120 with the High-speed Top Tech and takes 90 minutes. The Russian Manicure by Elena is $150 and takes two hours, with a selection of colors, long-lasting finishes and detailed nail designs; the site describes it as backed by 20 years of experience.
