Much of the work happens on location, with the artist travelling to clients across the Bay Area and beyond.
The business takes on weddings, personal events, commercial and corporate jobs, photoshoots and headshot sessions, and both union and non-union makeup, hair and manicure bookings. It can also supply a team of makeup and hair artists for an event. Additional artists are available for bridal party makeup and hair.
Lessons are a major part of what the salon offers. Clients can book group classes, one-on-one lessons, party packages, skincare sessions, DIY bridal and event beauty lessons, and short teaser sessions. Lessons take place in person in San Francisco or online over Zoom, and the online options include a virtual session on creating a clean look for camera and video.
Bridal booking has a set order. A wedding date is only held once a signed contract and deposit arrive, and the business asks for both within 48 hours of sending the contract. Only a limited number of weddings are taken each month, and many brides book more than a year ahead. A preview is recommended rather than required. Previews usually run about 2.5 to 3 hours and cover one makeup look and one hair look. Trying two entirely different looks needs advance notice and extra time and cost, and without a preview extra time may be needed on the wedding day.
The business also sells its own beauty products, vintage-inspired accessories, skincare, haircare, cosmetics and artwork, along with a jewelry line available online, at the studio and showroom, at Museum of Craft + Design in the Dogpatch, and at Nooworks in the Mission.
