Float Clinic Inc runs the spa in Old Town Torrance. The business describes itself as a holistic wellness spa offering relaxing and rejuvenating options for the mind and body. Its core service is floating, also called REST (Reduced Environmental Stimulation Therapy), which was earlier known as sensory deprivation.
Floats take place in one of three private suites named Sol, Luna and Terra, each a separate room. A session lasts 90 minutes in a tank of Epsom salt water kept at 93.5 degrees Fahrenheit, inside a dark, sound-insulated room. The Terra room is ADA accessible. Each float room measures 5 feet wide, 8 feet long and 7 feet high, and the business calls its floats among the largest and most comfortable. Every suite has a shower stocked with organic shampoo and conditioner, and towels and earplugs are provided, so guests bring only themselves.
Beyond floating, the spa offers Swedish or deep-tissue massage, which the business says is given by fully licensed therapists. Clients can book a float before or after a massage, and the business recommends trying both. Halo-IR is a three-person infrared sauna with halotherapy, in 45-minute sessions. Contrast therapy is a 60-minute private session that moves between the infrared sauna and a cold plunge, with a shower in the room and a brief rinse between cycles.
Between floats the water runs through a UV-C sterilizer for one hour, and room handles are disinfected. Appointments are booked online, with float times at 9am, 11:30am, 2pm, 4:30pm and 7pm. The spa is open six days a week and closed Thursdays. Changes need at least 24 hours' notice, and later cancellations may carry a $35 fee. Members can book up to 60 days ahead, while other customers can book 30 days ahead.
The business presents floating as a reduced-stimulation experience and states that it does not claim to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease. It advises clients with medical conditions, or who are pregnant, to consult a healthcare provider first.
Private, dark and sound-insulated float suites, each a separate room.
