Fine Gold Locs is a boutique-style natural hair care business in Blue Ash. Desiree Osei-Bobie founded it and does all of the loc work herself, concentrating on locs, including SisterLocks and MicroLocks work, traditional locs and low-manipulation natural styles.

Desiree's own path into this work began with SisterLocks in 2016. In 2021 she started a SisterLocks consultant business, which the site says was fully booked in its first year and has stayed booked since. Beyond client appointments she trains and mentors people who want to become locticians and offers clarity calls for clients and business owners. Her stated mission is to teach people about healthy hair and to encourage them to wear natural hair in interlocked styles.

The menu covers loc establishments, installations, interlocking retightening, loc repair and styling. New clients who are not yet locked start with an InterLocks consultation, while clients who are already set up book a transfer consultation, which can also be done virtually. A SisterLocks consultation is required before booking a SisterLocks establishment. Some consultations need a text to the salon first to check availability.

Maintenance is waterless. Shampooing is not done on site, so clients arrive with clean, dry hair that was shampooed 24 to 48 hours earlier; same-day shampooing is allowed only if the hair is at least 75 to 80 percent dry. Retightening includes a light oil rub to the scalp, and a steam treatment with essential oils can be added at no charge on request. Cash is preferred, with Square card payments carrying a 5 percent service fee and Afterpay carrying an 8 percent fee. Fees are non-refundable, retightening is paid after service, and establishments and installations are paid on the first day. A Gold Plan priority booking subscription is available for $25 a month plus tax, which does not go toward services. Clients who are not booked, contacted or retightened within 60 days are removed from the client list.

The MicroLocks Training and Mentorship Program comes in three virtual formats: a complete course that includes hands-on training, a virtual course with live online sessions, and a virtual course on its own. Training purchases are non-refundable, and cancellations require 48 hours' notice sent by email. Course content is licensed to the buyer for personal use only. A complimentary MicroLocks quick guide is also on offer. The Golden Crown Initiative, a community outreach project for children and families, is in development. It aims to provide affordable microlocks, maintenance education and hair care, with suggested donations of $35, $55, $75 and $120. According to the salon, its aim is quality, and it follows methods it regards as the best and safest for healthy hair. The State of Ohio has officially certified the business as a Minority Business Enterprise.

Work is grounded in healthy hair practices, intentional care and long-term hair integrity, with waterless, low-manipulation maintenance and clients asked to arrive with a freshly cleansed scalp.
