Fern & Moody Salon began in early 2021 as a single-chair studio started by Francesca and Jackie. It grew into a four-chair salon and moved into its current Fullerton Avenue space in July 2025.
The salon says it serves queer clients and all clients, and that it aims to avoid the discomfort it associates with traditional salons. New client haircuts are booked for 75 minutes or more and include an in-depth consultation, and the salon does not book same-day appointments.
Each stylist works as an independent contractor and may set their own policies. Cancelling or rescheduling within 48 hours can incur a fee of at least 50%, color deposits are forfeited on cancellation, and same-day cancellations and no-shows carry a full fee. Arriving more than 15 minutes late may cost $15, and clients who no-show more than once can no longer book. Cards, Zelle, Venmo and cash are accepted, though no cash is kept on the premises.
Wedding hair is handled by Jackie. Clients who want both Francesca and Jackie for a wedding should mention this when they inquire.
The salon describes its approach as thoughtful consultations, intentional service and lasting client relationships.
