Family K Spa has operated in Santa Clara since 2007 as a jimjilbang-style bathhouse. The spa describes itself as a premier destination for this kind of bathhouse in the Bay Area. The facilities include the Crystal Room, Clay Room and Jade Room, along with saunas and a hot tub. Guests can also use a foot massager.

A visit usually starts with admission, sold as an adult ticket for $35, a child ticket for ages 12 and under at $20, or a ten-admission bundle for $290. Treatments are booked separately. Three add-ons can be added to a main treatment, a 15 minute lymphatic facial, a 15 minute scalp massage and a 20 minute Korean face lifting massage, at $30, $30 and $40. These add-ons do not include spa entrance.

Body scrubs come in 30, 40, 60 and 90 minute versions, with prices from $90 up to $160 for the scrub and massage combinations. Each scrub comes with a Korean full body scrub with deep exfoliation, and the longer versions add hair washing, massage, a collagen facial mask, a hand and foot mask and aroma oil. Massage options include a 60 minute oil massage at $120 and 60 and 90 minute acupressure sessions, which are deep tissue work using pressure on specific points. A 60 minute foot massage is listed at $60 and a 30 minute yoni steam at $40.

The premium Seaweed Scrub Massage and Aloe Scrub Massage each run 100 minutes and cost $205. They combine a Korean full body scrub, full body massage, hair washing, facial and hand and foot masks, and a full body seaweed wrap. Guests booking body scrubs are asked to arrive 30 minutes early and to soak or steam for at least 25 minutes before treatment. Massage guests are asked to arrive 15 minutes early. Late arrivals receive a shorter treatment but are still charged the full cost.

Appointments are strongly recommended and can be made by phone. Gratuity is not included in prices, and a customary 15 to 20 percent is given in cash rather than on a gift card. Guests who are pregnant cannot be accommodated at this time and are asked to contact the spa after childbirth. Guests with open wounds or serious medical conditions cannot use the spa services or amenities.

The spa is built around Korean-style bathing and body scrub traditions, with treatments offered in several session lengths.

The spa describes its setting as intimate and calm, suited to solo visits, couples and groups.
