Eyebrows by Tulin

Tulin began designing brows at age 13 in Turkey, first for friends and dormmates while at university. In 2000 the work moved to Miami Beach, and the business says Tulin helped bring eyebrow threading to South Florida when it was uncommon there. The studio is in a suite on Madeira Avenue in Coral Gables.

The studio treats brow design as an art form rather than simply removing hair, and aims to leave clients feeling more confident. Each design appointment is given enough time, and appointments are scheduled to start and finish on time.

A first visit is a consultation about your brow history and the shape you want. The recommended next visit after a first brow design is two to three weeks later. Referrals come from dermatologists, makeup artists and hair salons who have seen the work.

Microblading is a semi-permanent form of tattooing done with a handheld tool holding tiny needles, and sessions take two hours or more. Longevity depends on skin type, and oilier skin, sweating and sun exposure shorten results. The first touch-up, done within two months, is $150, and it cannot be booked sooner than six weeks after the initial session. Later touch-up prices are available on request, and microblading appointments can be arranged on days off by calling the studio.

Cancellation terms differ by service. Threading and waxing cancelled at least two hours ahead are not charged, later cancellations are charged 30 percent, and no-shows are charged the full appointment price. Microblading cancelled at least 24 hours ahead is not charged, later cancellations are $150, and no-shows are $250.

Brow design is treated as an art form, with enough time given to each appointment and a consultation before any service.
