Exquisite Rootz

Exquisite Rootz is a studio in Woodstock focused on Sisterlocks, a micro interlocking system for Afro-textured hair. The studio's stated mission is to help clients find or rediscover the beauty of their natural hair, and it says it keeps learning as the beauty industry changes.

Services fall into two groups. Sisterlocks/Microlocks includes the standard Microlocks technique and Sisterlocks.

The studio describes its atmosphere as relaxed. Loc maintenance questions can be handled by phone, by text during studio hours, or by email, with a response usually within 24 to 48 hours.

Studio hours run Tuesday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Requests outside those hours are considered case by case and carry an additional fee, and emergency or Sunday and Monday appointments are charged at a premium rate.

Hair should be shampooed within 24 hours before the appointment or on the day of it. Clients who cannot shampoo beforehand can add a shampoo service, which takes extra time and costs extra. Clients are asked to bring headphones and keep phone or video calls to a minimum during appointments. Strong scents such as perfume, cologne or smoke are discouraged, smoking and vaping are not allowed, pets are not permitted, and children or extra guests are only accommodated when receiving a service.

Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice and no-shows are charged the full service cost to the card on file. Arriving more than 30 minutes late may mean a partial service or rescheduling. Reminders are sent by email 48 hours and by text 24 hours before the appointment. Full payment is due before leaving. Zelle is preferred, cash must be exact change, and cards carry a processing fee. CashApp and Venmo are not accepted.
