Every appointment begins with a consultation, which is included and does not need to be booked separately. The conversation covers the client's goals, concerns, realistic expectations and the stylist's recommendations. Cuts are shaped on dry hair in the natural curl pattern after the hair is fully detangled, and a wash and style follows with product suggestions for the client's texture.

Cleansing and conditioning are done with a regimen the stylist chooses for the client. Spa Mist, a machine that releases a warm mist of very fine water particles, adds hydration to the curls during treatments. The cleansers and conditioners used are sulfate-free, silicone-free and free of heavy oils and butters.

Color services include custom hand-painted highlights placed for each client's texture, which can also be a full change from roots to ends, and a one-shade retouch for grey coverage or hair previously colored one shade. Both include a gloss and a cut, and the salon sets blonding and coverage limits based on the starting hair and what can be done in one session.

The salon also offers pro education online and in person, including one-on-one classes at the San Diego studio, and appointments are booked online through the salon's website. The salon describes its approach to curly hair as holistic.
