The name EQ stands for Emotional Quotient, a reference to emotional intelligence and calming the nervous system. The business holds that scalp health is the foundation of healthy hair, and its sessions are built around that idea.

A visit begins with guests removing their shoes at the door. Each session includes scalp analysis, deep cleansing, warm steam, nourishing treatments, slow scalp massage and a signature waterfall rinse, and aftercare guidance and a professional blowout are part of the visit.

Cancellations should be made at least 24 hours before the appointment. A cancellation made within 24 hours of the appointment time carries a $100 missed appointment fee. Gift cards and a monthly ritual membership are also available.

Each session is personalized and unhurried. Every visit opens with a brief scalp consultation covering needs, stress levels and preferred pressure.

Guests take off their shoes on arrival, a Japanese custom of respect and cleanliness, and the Quogue location is set up as a coastal space for slow, restful visits.
