Entwined Loc Studio

The studio is at 171 South Orlando Avenue in Maitland. It is open Wednesday and Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM, Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM, Thursday from 10:30 AM to 8 PM, and Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM, and it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The studio describes its focus as building community as well as offering services. Petrona Ramsay, a Master Stylist, founded the studio and built The Entwined Collective, the community work the studio says supports youth, women and men.

Maintenance retwists cover up to 100 locs, and larger heads need a density add-on. A retwist includes a cleansing shampoo and deep hydration, and maintenance visits add a deep cleanse and steam hydration. Options range from retwisting only the top of the head, with a clipper cut available for the sides and back, to retwists with two-strand twists, rod sets, pipe cleaners, detox, or a boho finish with feather crochet extensions. Starter locs use the coil method for heads up to 90 locs and take about three to four hours. Microcoils, microlocs retie and interlocking are also offered, along with loc takedowns, braid takedowns, sew-in takedowns and detangling. Loc Sprinkles, small glass beads threaded through locs, are priced at $15.

Color for locs includes a required color consultation before any new color, root touch-ups, full head applications using Olaplex, and highlights. Lift and tone is also offered. Loose natural hair can be shaped with curly cuts, wash and go styles, twist or braid outs, rod sets and precision cuts. The studio hosts classes including The Braid Class and The Coilhood apprenticeship for young creatives. Payment is accepted by cash, debit, credit, American Express and Discover. Appointments need at least 24 hours notice to cancel, and cancelling later results in the full payment being charged to the card on file.
