Enhanced Image Electrolysis

Enhanced Image Electrolysis was based in Hudson, New Hampshire from 2006 to 2017 and has operated in Palm Harbor, Florida since 2017. The studio offers two main groups of service: permanent hair removal and skin care, the latter built around GlyMed Plus peels and masks.

Electrolysis sends a small amount of energy into each hair follicle to weaken and eliminate the cells that produce hair. Sessions run from about 15 to 60 minutes, sometimes longer, and the work is done as a series of treatments scheduled around each client. The studio uses three electrolysis machines and adjusts the settings to how sensitive each client is. Topical anesthetics are available on request, though the studio says they are seldom needed. The studio describes electrolysis as the only proven method of permanent hair removal.

IPL hair removal uses the Apilux SmartPro device, which usually takes 5 to 10 sessions depending on the area, the amount of hair, skin condition and phototype. If pigmented hairs are present, the area is shaved before treatment. The handpiece is larger than some alternatives and covers more area, and the device delivers several quickly alternating light flashes in one exposure. It has programs for every hair type and phototype, with adjustable pulse settings. Hair removal is offered on the face, including the lips, chin, cheeks, neck, eyebrows, ears and hairline, and on the body, including the bikini line, underarms, back, chest, arms, legs, hands and feet.

The skin care menu uses GlyMed Plus products: glycolic, lactic at 30% and 50%, Jessner's, Vitamin A and 5-Berry pigment control peels, each about 30 minutes for the peels listed with that timing. Peels require the skin to be prepared with an at-home regimen first. Anti-oxidant enzyme and chocolate masks can be added to any GlyMed Plus facial or peel. The enzyme mask contains pumpkin and pomegranate enzymes and is described as suitable for all skin types and conditions. The studio says the chocolate mask was featured on The Doctors TV show. An Eye Calm treatment is also offered for the area around the eyes.

A first visit includes a short medical history and a personalized treatment plan. Consultations are always free, telephone consultations are available, and free trial treatments can be requested. Payment is due for each treatment at the time of service; cash and personal checks are accepted, made payable to the electrologist who performs the service. A returned check carries a $20.00 charge. Missed appointments need 24 hours' notice to avoid a charge, and clients who arrive late are charged for the full time they booked. Appointment time is not shared between clients. Gift certificates are available.

Each treatment takes place in a private setting, and personal information is kept confidential. Each client gets fresh flowers at every visit, and soothing music plays during appointments; clients may bring their own music. Single-use sterile probes are used for each treatment with disposable gloves. Instruments are cleaned in an ultrasonic unit and sterilized with dry heat, and the office is latex free. Infection control follows the standards recommended by the American Electrology Association, the CDC, OSHA and APIC.
