Susan started Em Hair Studio as a boutique salon meant to feel intimate and relaxed, with a setting designed so clients feel pampered. The studio aims for every guest to feel calm and comfortable from arrival to departure, and to leave feeling satisfied. A stated goal is to help women feel confident and at their best.

The salon's core work is customized dimensional coloring and its Em Hand-Tied Extension Method, which the salon presents as its signature service and says is exclusive to the studio. Hand-tied extensions are made with Em Hand-Tied Hair and include custom coloring, installation, a conditioning treatment, a precision haircut, styling and a before-and-after photo. They can be installed in one, two or three rows.

A first visit starts with a pre-consultation form, which new clients complete before booking; returning clients can book directly. Clients are welcome to bring inspiration photos, and a light snack and refreshments area is available. The studio is cash-free and accepts major credit cards, Zelle and exact cash.

The studio also works with independent stylists who run their own businesses alongside the salon, and it aims to give its stylists a work-life balance, flexibility and room to grow.
