Elite Beauty Academy is a cosmetology school in Houston, registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) as a private school. The school says its eyelash extension program was the first TDLR-approved license provider in the Houston metropolitan area, and it reports a 100% pass rate on state licensure exams. Those are the school's own claims.
The core program is a 320-hour basic eyelash extension course, estimated at about eight weeks. Around 190 of those hours are spent on classic lash extension application, with the rest covering theory such as orientation, rules and law, first aid, sanitation, safety, growth cycles, product chemistry, supplies, isolation, eye shapes and salon management. Chapters are not taught in strict order. Students need a cumulative grade of C to pass, and graduation requires finishing the hours, passing written and practical exams and completing the TDLR practical procedures. Mock board exams run throughout, and the state exam itself is given by TDLR at an off-site testing location.
Classes mix lectures, live demonstrations, guest speakers, visual aids and hands-on practice. Students clock in and out and can step away as needed, with missed sessions made up on another date. After the first 150 hours of lecture and training, students work on approved patrons and mannequins.
For students who already have the basics, an advanced eyelash course covers multi-fan sets, mega volume and advanced mapping. Advanced courses require the prerequisites, though students holding a license from another state or school may enroll. A separate expert makeup application course offers one-to-one training in self application, applying makeup on others, advanced airbrush techniques and current trends, taught by an instructor with over ten years of industry experience. A microblading advanced course is listed, but no details are published yet.
Applicants must be at least 17 and hold a high school diploma or GED, or have completed seventh grade and passed the ability to benefit exam. Admission involves an application, an enrollment agreement, an interview and a meeting about a payment schedule. The school can enroll students at any time before a program starts. As a private school it receives no state funding for aid, but it offers flexible financial assistance plans. Tuition is discussed after a facility tour, and out-of-area prospects are handled case by case. Advanced course tuition and enrollment are arranged by phone or email.
Instruction combines classroom theory with live demonstrations, guest speakers and practical work, with the school aiming to support each student through the whole program.
