Elfin Kids Cuts opened its doors in March 2024. Its founders say the business grew out of a wish to rethink what a children's hair salon could be, and the stated aim is to make every child's haircut an enjoyable outing.
The space is bright and themed, with colorful sections, playful chairs and a spa area. Parents are welcome to stay and watch, and a waiting area is available for them. Children can settle in with racecar seats, games, videos, movies and toys, and every child receives a free balloon and lollipop after a service.
Beyond haircuts, the salon offers a toddler first-haircut package that includes a keepsake photo, a certificate and a small lock of hair in an envelope. Girls' appointments begin with a consultation about the child's lifestyle, hair type and style wishes, and options range from braids and curls to temporary color, glitter and clip-in extensions. Ear piercing is offered from about six months old, using hypoallergenic earrings, with aftercare instructions and follow-up. There is also a kids' spa, birthday party packages for toddlers through pre-teens, and a boutique selling children's hair care products and accessories.
The salon says it hires stylists for patience, kindness and understanding as much as technical skill, and that they suit babies and young children. Tools are sanitized before and after each use.
