Elegant African Braiding is run by Rita Oji, who has provided professional hair services since 2020. Rita treats braiding as both a craft and a cultural tradition, and as a way to help each client feel their best.
The studio covers a wide range of protective and natural styles: knotless, box and boho knotless braids with curls, crochet braids, Senegalese, Island and kinky twists, two-strand twists, loc retwists and styling, cornrows, and braids for men and kids. Custom designs are welcome, and reference photos can be sent ahead of the appointment.
Booking is by confirmed appointment only. Requests are confirmed once Rita checks availability and receives a non-refundable $30 deposit by Cash App, which is credited toward the total cost of the service. Clients bring their own braiding hair in the right type, quantity and color, and should arrive with hair washed, fully detangled and free of heavy buildup. Washing is not provided during appointments, and braid prices stay the same regardless of hair length.
The salon welcomes children aged 6 to 12. Young guests need to come in with hair that is clean and free of tangles, and must be able to stay seated safely for the whole visit. A parent or another responsible adult should remain nearby during the appointment whenever needed.
The studio aims for neat styles that last and a setting where every client feels comfortable and welcome.
