Electrolysis Consultants Ltd. focuses on electrolysis hair removal, which delivers electrical current through a fine probe into each hair follicle. The method works across all skin types and hair colors. The office offers this service on the face only, does not accept body work, and does not offer laser hair removal.

Electrolysis is permanent hair removal, but it is not instantaneous. Treatment is delivered in a series of sessions, and the number depends on hair growth, the size of the area and any earlier hair removal methods. Sessions are spaced closely at first and become shorter and farther apart as growth lessens. The treatment is described as causing some discomfort, usually no more than tweezing.

Booking is by appointment only, from Tuesday through Friday. Appointments can be scheduled and changed online with 24 hours' notice; changes inside that window must be made by phone at 618-233-4200. Email or text is the preferred way to reach the office, since voicemails may not be returned right away. New clients email their name, email address and a current phone number to be added to the online system, then book one initial appointment, with a treatment plan discussed in person. Clients should arrive early enough to finish forms, stop other temporary hair removal about a week before treatment, and may clip hair until two days before. Hair should be long enough to tweeze before a first appointment.

Pricing: a 15-minute session is $45 and a 30-minute session is $60. The 45- and 60-minute sessions were discontinued as of January 1, 2018. A consultation costs $45 and is applied to a first treatment only when that treatment is on the same day; otherwise the consultation is also $45. Appointments not cancelled 24 hours in advance carry a 100% late or no-show fee regardless of reason, invoiced to the email address on file. Excessive last-minute cancellations may lead to dismissal as a client, and clients should not book appointments they do not plan to attend.

The practice keeps things unhurried and education-first: new clients start with a single appointment and a treatment plan discussed in person, and the number of sessions is set around each client's growth and area.
