Paula Minnick runs the practice and has worked in electrolysis for over 30 years. Depending on the technique, the current works through heat, through chemical action, or through a combination the practice calls the blend. Paula currently offers the thermolysis and blend methods. Procedures follow sterilization, disinfection and antisepsis practices that the practice says are in line with CDC guidelines. Clients may feel tingling, slight heat or stinging, which varies from person to person, and the electrologist can adjust for comfort. Treated skin may go through a short healing period with redness, swelling and occasional scabbing.
Clients are asked to leave the area untouched by plucking, waxing, threading or shaving before a visit, since the hair needs to be visible for treatment. Appointments run in time blocks: 5 to 10 minutes for $20, 15 minutes for $35, 20 minutes for $45, 30 minutes for $65, 45 minutes for $90, and 60 minutes for $110.
