Each treatment works on individual follicles. A fine solid needle is inserted into the follicle and electrical energy is discharged to destroy the tissue that grows the hair. Permanent removal typically takes six months to a year, depending on growth cycles, hair density and any earlier temporary removal. Some regrowth after one session is expected, but it tends to be finer and the growth cells are weakened. Sensation differs from person to person, and special creams and other methods are available for clients who are more sensitive.
