Electrolysis by BJ is a single-practitioner electrolysis practice located inside Sola Salon Suites on Allen Rd in Woodhaven. The practice focuses on permanent hair removal by electrolysis and treats facial and body areas for women, men and teens.
Each session is given in a private treatment room. Treatment times run from about 15 minutes to more than an hour, depending on the area. Fees depend on how much hair is present and how much time the client wants to spend on treatment, and the exact fee and a treatment plan are set at a free consultation before booking.
Electrolysis is a permanent method that works gradually, so it usually takes a series of appointments. How long treatment lasts and how many visits are needed depend on hair growth cycles, hair amount and type, heredity, hormones, medications, skin condition, and how consistently the client keeps up with appointments.
Hair removal from most moles requires written approval from the client's physician. Clients are asked to stop plucking, waxing, threading or bleaching the area beforehand, and to let 2 to 3 days of growth come in. Clients may shave between visits, and slight redness and swelling can occur right after treatment, usually settling soon after the appointment.
Disposable non-latex gloves and a mask are worn during every treatment. Instruments are sterilized, and the room is disinfected between clients following CDC and MIOSHA infection control standards. Appointments are scheduled so clients do not wait before treatment, and client privacy is protected under HIPAA.
Each hair is treated individually, with a fine probe placed into the follicle, a brief current applied, and the hair removed with tweezers, carried out over a series of visits.
Each service takes place in a private treatment room within a salon suite building.
