ElectraBeauty is an electrolysis practice in Avon that focuses only on permanent hair removal. First-time clients begin with a 15-minute consultation, offered free, where the practice talks through the client's unwanted hair concerns and builds a plan around their goals and budget.

Treatments are booked in 15, 30, 45 and 60 minute appointments at $60, $80, $100 and $130. The 15-minute visit suits touch-ups or areas with very little hair, while the 60-minute visit fits larger areas or a couple of smaller spots in one sitting. Treatments are usually closer together at the start and spaced further apart as hairs are treated. How many sessions are needed depends on hair count, past hair removal methods, skin sensitivity and the hair growth cycle.

Each treatment takes place in a private suite. The practice uses a newer electrolysis machine that the business says is more comfortable and gives quicker results. Cleaning uses hospital-grade disinfectant and strict sterilization methods, and each client's privacy and confidentiality are maintained.

According to the salon, electrolysis works on every skin tone and across a range of hair shades, including white, blonde, grey and red, which the salon says laser cannot treat. The salon describes electrolysis as the only permanent hair removal method approved by the FDA. It also states that the treatment is safe over tattoos and does not stimulate new hair growth.

Appointments are preferably booked online, though clients can also call or text. A credit card is needed to hold an appointment time, and the waitlist can fill openings that come up sooner than a booked time. Before treatment, hair should be about 2mm long, roughly 3 to 5 days of growth and long enough to grasp with tweezers. Between visits, clients stop waxing, tweezing and other plucking, though shaving or trimming with scissors is fine. Clients are asked to drink plenty of water in the days before and on the day of treatment, and to avoid caffeine, alcohol, sun and tanning beforehand. A sunburned treatment area means rescheduling. Late arrivals receive only the remaining appointment time and are still charged the full treatment cost. The cancellation fee is waived for clients who are sick, though the business may stop waiving it for frequent same-day sick calls. The practice is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9am to 4pm and Friday from 9am to 2pm.
