Two stylist-barbers, Amber Amici and Joanna Gruszka, own the salon. They bought the business after relocating, having previously worked together at an Edgebrook salon that closed unexpectedly in early 2017. The space took over from Salon Louise, whose longtime owner retired and handed the business to the current owners.
The salon serves both men and women, with separate groupings for ladies' and gentlemen's services, plus color, styling, smoothing treatments, hair removal, and a set of other services. A boutique on-site sells retail products, and gift certificates can be bought in any amount for services or retail.
Hours run Tuesday and Wednesday from 12 PM to 8 PM, Thursday 11 AM to 5 PM, Friday 10 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday 9 AM to 3 PM. The salon is closed on Mondays and Sundays. Paybox parking is available on Central Ave., except Monday to Friday from 4 PM to 6 PM, and additional parking is on Leoti Ave., one block north of Devon Ave.
To book, clients place a credit card on file to reserve and are asked to give 24 hours' notice for cancellations or changes. Cancellations inside 24 hours carry a $25 fee, and a no-show is charged 50% of the scheduled service. Redos are free when requested within two weeks of the original appointment, but redos for services done by apprentices must be booked with that apprentice, and apprentice work is not guaranteed. All sales are final, and the salon does not guarantee how long vivid or pastel color will last or fade, nor offers redos for them.
The salon says it chooses products that meet its standards for performance and health. It also works with Green Circle Salons to recycle hair clippings, foils, leftover liquid chemicals, color tubes, paper, and plastics.
The interior has a custom front desk, retail shelving, a barber station, neon signs, a comb curtain, and a growing collection of vintage hair tools.
