About

Dread Haven is a newer business that branched off from Brenda's Knotty Dreads, the shop run by Brenda Neelands. Co-owners Genevieve and Thomas both trained under Brenda, and the business is built around dreadlock work from start to finish, including starting new locs, maintaining existing ones, adding length with extensions, and repairing or combining locs.

Visits are by appointment only. New clients are asked to text or email photos of their hair before the first session, and clients should arrive with clean, dry hair and no oils or serums. Services are priced at $65 per hour with a $65 minimum per appointment, and booking requires a non-refundable deposit: $50 for maintenance and $100 for starter loc appointments. Cards carry a 3.5% processing fee, and cash and debit are also accepted. Cancellations and rescheduling need 48 hours' notice, and a no-show forfeits the deposit.

The business describes its goal as top-notch service and ongoing support throughout a client's loc journey. Extensions come in several forms: permanent extensions can use a set the shop sells, a made-to-order set, or hair the client supplies, while temporary extensions are braided in and secured. Custom extension sets are taken as commissions, and any extension work needs to be discussed before booking.

The business aims to provide strong service and continued support across the whole dreadlock journey, as it describes its own goals.
