Doll Wax Salon began in 2012, when owner Tammy Rivera opened a local space for professional waxing. Within four years the business had grown to three locations across Maryland.
Tammy trained at an esthetics school in Wilmington, North Carolina, in 2006. Before opening the salon she spent about ten years working with cosmetic lines and managing cosmetic teams.
A visit starts with a private undressing before the service, and wipes are offered at the start and end. The average Brazilian appointment takes about 30 minutes. Clients who are on their period may keep their appointments and are asked to wear a tampon during the service. Services totaling $200 or more need a 50% deposit 24 hours ahead, and cancellations or changes made less than 24 hours in advance are not refunded.
The menu covers full body waxing for men and women, from facial and brow work to Brazilian and body services, plus GLO by Doll spray tanning. The setting is personal and sanitized, and the salon says it uses high-quality products. Bookings are taken by phone on weekdays from 9am to 4pm.
Waxing removes hair from the root and is offered as an alternative to shaving.
