Dolce Salon opened in November 2012, when Heather Trout started it in a historic building in downtown Tacoma with seven stations. In 2020 the salon moved to its current location on 6th Avenue, which has 13 hair stations and a dedicated lash station. The salon describes itself as offering luxury hair services in the heart of Tacoma.

The salon's goal is to help each client look and feel their best while bringing out their own style and the hair they want. It says it will be straightforward about what hair can achieve in a single appointment. The salon also says its team is highly trained and committed to ongoing education.

Online booking is open 24 hours a day. The salon is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 7pm and Saturday from 9am to 6pm. First visits start with a consultation to talk through hair goals, lifestyle needs and a maintenance plan, and stylists recommend take-home products before clients leave. All haircuts except child cuts include a wash and blow-dry. Any service that runs over four hours is billed at the hourly rate of a senior or master stylist, and master stylists take appointments by request only. Easy parking is available.

Pricing is a starting point and can increase. Color and lightening prices depend on stylist level; for example, traditional partial lightening runs from $125 to $265. Loose curls added to a service cost $15, treatments are an additional charge, and a Vish product charge may apply if a service exceeds its allowed amount.

Children are welcome in the service area only when they are having a service. Children aged 10 and older who can sit quietly and unsupervised may wait in the seating area. Onsite wedding services are available with a $100 fee for up to 45 minutes of driving, plus $100 for each additional 45 minutes per service provider, and a $550 minimum. In-salon wedding services are requested through a wedding date availability form. The salon describes its Oi Shine Treatment as award-winning and made with 95% biodegradable ingredients.
