The salon's mission centers on celebrating the beauty of women of every culture, with a focus on passion, love and excellence, and it describes its aim as a hair design made for each client.

The salon is owned and managed by its founder, LaMonica D. Cuthbertson, through Different by Design, LLC. Before opening the salon, she worked as a business manager with Cargill in Minneapolis and Coralville, Iowa.

A visit is meant to feel relaxed. Soothing music, light refreshments and beverages are offered during services, along with beauty, fashion and entertainment magazines. Services are a la carte unless a service says otherwise, and listed prices are base prices that can change after a consultation with the stylist. Bridal consultations are available on request.

Focuses on exceptional service and technical skill, with a custom hair design built around each client.
