Devin Electrolysis

Devin Electrolysis has been providing permanent hair removal in Norwood since 1989. The practice is small and appointment-based, with no walk-ins, and it is run by two registered electrologists who treat clients individually.

New clients begin with a 50 dollar consultation. It includes a 30-minute talk about goals and a 15-minute test treatment, using electrolysis or VIORA IPL depending on the area and the client's hair and skin. Afterward the practitioner recommends electrolysis, IPL, or a combination. The office asks new clients to speak with it before booking a first appointment.

Electrolysis works by placing a very fine probe, thinner than the hair, into the follicle opening beside the hair shaft and applying a small electrical current. The practice offers three methods, shortwave (thermolysis), galvanic and blend, and chooses among them for each client. Treatment can reach facial and body areas including the brows, lip, jaw, underarms, bikini line, legs and back. Sessions run from 15 to 60 minutes, and the practice notes that several sessions are usually needed because hair grows in cycles. Rates are priced by session length, and a separate set of rates applies to electrolysis used in preparation for gender-affirming surgery.

The practice describes electrolysis as the only method the FDA recognizes as permanent hair removal, and says it works on all hair colors, unlike laser, which is best suited to dark hair. VIORA IPL is priced by the area treated.

Infection control follows the standards of the American Electrology Association, along with CDC and Massachusetts guidance. Each session uses sterile disposable probes, and latex-free glove options are available. Free parking is on site, and the practice notes that clients with accessibility needs should say so before their appointment.
