Desert Wax Studio

Desert Wax Studio is a full body waxing studio in Tempe, run by owner and esthetician Kelsey Ortiz. She founded it after working at two European Wax Centers locations, with the goal of offering a more personal waxing experience.

The studio says every body type is valued and that clients are welcome as they are, without judgment. It aims to make clients feel comfortable, cared for and welcome. According to the FAQ page, Brazilian waxing is the most popular service.

Services are grouped into body services, facial services, combos and other packages. Combinations include underarm with Brazilian, Brazilian with full booty, and Brazilian with eyebrow, with or without underarm. The studio uses a hypoallergenic hard wax with no dyes and no fragrance.

Before a visit, clients are asked to be off Accutane for at least six months and to avoid topical creams such as Differin, retinols or alpha hydroxy acids for two weeks. Clients should wear a tampon or menstrual cup during a waxing service. Body areas should be exfoliated with a body brush or scrub one to two days before a body wax, though not the face. Hair should be about 1/4 inch long, roughly the size of a grain of rice, and should have grown at least two weeks after the last shave.

Recommended intervals are two to four weeks for facial waxing, two to three weeks for underarms, and four to six weeks for bikini and other body areas, with no shaving or tweezing in between. Hours are Wednesday 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, and Saturday 9:00 am to 12:00 pm; the studio is closed Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Gift cards are sold as eGift cards in amounts of $25, $50, $75, $100 or a custom amount.
