Dermessential is a Sacramento studio that focuses on facials, light and micro-current treatments, and waxing. The business describes itself as female-centered and as a safe, trauma-informed space that is friendly to LGBTQ+ clients, and says its aim is to empower women one treatment at a time.
The facial menu runs from a short 5-minute Remedy treatment and a 50-minute Orange Blossom or Signature facial up to longer options such as the Clarity acne facial, which pairs matcha green tea with blue light, and the Revitalize session, which combines micro-current with red light. Several facials use specific methods: a Pumpkin facial with enzyme-based exfoliation, a Glycolic Acid Peel that is not suited to sensitive skin, and a Microdermabrasion facial using a diamond-tip device with a hydrating mask.
Light and micro-current work is offered on its own as well. Photon mini sessions take 20 minutes and are usually booked once or twice a week, with a typical plan of 8 to 12 sessions. Micro-current facial series are priced by contacting the salon, and touch-up sessions for both micro-current and microdermabrasion series are $45 for follow-up visits one through five.
Waxing covers lip, chin, eyebrows and a full face, and the studio uses a hard wax that does not stick to the skin. The business says this wax is less painful and suits all skin types.
The Bestie Beauty Bliss package, starting at $200 and lasting three hours or more, is built for a client and guests. It includes a Signature facial for each person, cucumber-infused water, a sparkling wine or non-alcoholic sparkling drink, a choice of tea or coffee, and a charcuterie or fruit and vegetable tray. It must be booked at least five days ahead, the salon calls to confirm and collects a 50% deposit within 24 hours of booking, and the food trays may contain nuts, so clients with nut allergies are asked to mention it when booking. The studio is open Wednesday from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm, Thursday and Friday from 9:30 am to 7:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm. It is closed Monday and Tuesday. Services are non-refundable, and booking an appointment and attending it is taken to mean the client accepts the no-refund terms. eGift cards are sold in amounts of $80, $90, $110 and $125, or for a custom amount.
The business presents itself as female-centered and trauma-informed, with a focus on a safe and welcoming experience for all clients.
