Danni Natural Touch Studios

Danni Natural Touch Studios is a natural hair studio at Bay 2 on West 80th Street in Hialeah, Florida. The studio is built around locs, and its owner, Carlyca BKA Danni, is a master loctician. Clients come from Miami and beyond, and the studio also serves Austin, Texas, where appointments carry a $50 travel fee added to the booking.

Starter locs can begin from about four inches of hair, made as two-strand twists, traditional coils or interlocks. Maintenance covers comb retwisting, palm rolling, locsmithing, crochet and interlocking. The studio also repairs and reattaches locs, fits loc extensions in a range of sizes, lengths and colors, and sets up custom loc care routines. Sisterlocks and microlocs are offered for both establishment and maintenance.

Installations are matched to the style. Traditional locs start with a shampoo and deep conditioning treatment, then comb coil installation on a traditional parting scale. Instant locs use the crochet method and are completed in one visit, including a deep-cleansing shampoo. Micro locs are set in a grid of partings between one-half and one-quarter inch. Shampoo is included unless stated otherwise, and a minimum of about two inches of hair is typically needed, depending on the style.

New clients book an initial consultation before any service. That fee is non-refundable and is not applied to the first service, and new clients pay half of the first service fee at booking. Clients who have gone six months without a service are treated as new and need a consultation again. Sisterlocks and microlocs clients who are twelve or more weeks overdue for retightening also need a consultation. Transfer clients are accepted. Appointments are booked online through Booksy, rescheduling must be done online at least 48 hours ahead, and cancellations need at least two hours' notice. A 15-minute grace period applies before a $25 late fee.

Payment is accepted by cash, Zelle or credit card, and card payments carry a 2.9% processing fee. Cash should be exact because change cannot be guaranteed. A copy of the payer's ID is kept on file for credit card or Zelle payments. Hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Thursday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM on alternate weeks only. The studio is closed on Tuesdays and Sundays.

The studio also makes the Naturally Bliss Collection, a line of loc care products that includes hydrating rose water and moisturizing sprays, shampoos, deep conditioners and oils. Carlyca created the line alongside the salon services and tests shampoos and conditioners on clients before they are sold. Products can be picked up at the studio or bought on Etsy.

Clean scalp care, appropriate tension, minimal manipulation and intentional maintenance guide the work, and clients are taught how to care for their locs between appointments.
