About

Cynthia J. Amidon runs the practice alone, so every appointment is handled by the owner with no other staff in the office. The practice describes itself as a state inspected, approved and licensed home-based practice in Massachusetts.

Electrolysis is the core service, and the practice calls it the only proven, time-tested method of permanent hair removal. Treatment is a series of sessions, and the number needed depends on age, medical history, previous temporary methods, and the area and density of hair. Plans are tailored to each client. The first visit includes a free, no-obligation consultation and a brief review of medical history. Treatment is offered on the eyebrows, lips, chin, breast, underarms, bikini line, legs, arms, fingers and toes. Hair in moles can be treated with written physician permission, while mucous membranes and the inside of the outer ear are not treated.

Sessions are priced by length: $50 for up to 15 minutes, $65 for 30, $80 for 45 and $95 for 60. Treatment time cannot be shared with another person. Cancellations need 24 hours' notice for appointments under 60 minutes and 48 hours for longer ones, and appointments over 60 minutes require a $95 deposit. A $50 short-notice cancellation fee applies, and a no-show is charged the cost of the client's most recent appointment. Late arrivals may shorten the booked time, but the full booked time is charged with a $50 minimum. Children under 13 cannot be left alone in the waiting area, so they should come along only when necessary. Work conflicts are not treated as emergencies for fee waivers. Payment is accepted by cash, check or Venmo.

Customized facials are also offered, along with Visual Changes skin care products, and international skin care products are available for purchase. Calls are not answered during treatments, but they are returned the same business day.

Follows CDC sanitation and sterilization standards for reusable tools and work surfaces, uses a new pre-sterilized disposable probe for each treatment, and has sterilization tested monthly in laboratory checks, which the practice says exceeds the state's quarterly requirement.

A private, quiet setting in a home office, with appointments held one client at a time.
