Founder Elisabeth is a Grand Rapids native who studied at Michigan State University before switching to cosmetology and graduating from Chic University. She worked as a Color Specialist at ARIA Resort Salon and the Mandarin Oriental in Las Vegas, then returned to Grand Rapids in 2012 and opened Chasing Vanity Salon in 2013. The C.V. Medi Spa launched in 2019 in the same building.

Elisabeth coaches team members and brings educators and industry artists in to teach classes for the team. The salon states its mission as helping guests feel their most beautiful, inside and out, through haircare and skincare. It also runs an assistant training program.

Memberships include The C.V. Beauty Bank at $149 a month and Lash Society at $135 a month plus a $25 one-time enrollment fee. The Blush Room, an event venue in the same building, holds up to 75 guests with a private entrance, parking, a kitchenette and a 65-inch TV, and is offered for corporate meetings, bridal showers and celebrations.
