Current Electrolysis

Current Electrolysis is a permanent hair removal practice located at Lyndell Terrace in Davis. The business uses electrolysis, a method that removes hair one follicle at a time, and offers the same service across all skin tones and hair types.

Each client begins with a consultation, which is required for all new clients before treatment. During the consultation, health history and the results the client wants are discussed, and a treatment plan is built around their hair removal goals. New clients complete health assessment and policy forms after booking.

Electrolysis works by placing a very fine needle into the follicle opening beside the hair and sending a small electrical current to destroy the cells that grow the hair. Because hair grows in cycles, most clients need several sessions. The first session may be kept shorter so the skin's reaction can be checked. Topical anesthetics can be suggested to ease discomfort.

The practice covers a wide range of areas, including the eyebrows, chin, lip, jaw line, sides of the face, underarms, abdomen, bikini line, legs, feet and back. Specialized treatment is offered for genital areas such as Brazilians and pre-surgical preparation, and breast and sensitive-area work includes the areola. Hair removal is also offered for men, covering areas such as the back, shoulders, ears, cheeks along the beard line, neckline, nape, hands and feet.

Between sessions, shaving is allowed, while plucking, waxing and depilatory creams should be avoided. Clients are asked to stop tweezing, waxing or using depilatories for at least two weeks before an appointment and may shave three to seven days before. Some redness, swelling or mild irritation can occur and usually settles within a few hours to a day. Sun exposure, tanning beds and heavy sweating are best avoided for 24 to 48 hours after a session.
