Curl Etiquette Salon works only with curly hair, from loose waves to tight curls. Its philosophy is that hair shape comes first, and color and styling are built on that foundation. The salon says most people only need a curly cut about every quarter.

Before a visit, clients detangle their hair; it can be dry or wet when they arrive, and it is cut wet. Each service includes styling and a complimentary conditioning treatment, and prices are fixed for the service booked. New clients start with a curly cut, which includes a conditioning treatment, education and styling, and longer consultation time for very thick or long hair. Color is not offered to new clients. Hair that cannot be detangled within 30 minutes may not be completed.

Children must be 10 or older to be serviced. Only one parent may accompany a minor, and no other guests are allowed with a client. No extension services are offered, and services are not refundable. Cash gratuity is preferred. The stylist may refuse service.

Bookings open month by month, and clients receive an email when a month opens, on the second Sunday of the month before. Cancellations made less than 48 hours ahead are charged 50 percent of the service. No-call no-shows, same-day cancellations, and late arrivals without enough time left for the service are charged the full price.

Relaxed hair or hair damaged by heat is not transitioned out of its chemical or heat history, unless the client agrees to have hair that has lost its curl from over-processing cut. The salon is open Wednesday to Friday from noon to 8 PM and Saturday from 11 AM to 7 PM, and is closed Sunday through Tuesday.

Hair shape is treated as the foundation for color and styling, so the cut comes first.
