Cure Nailhouse was founded in 2019 in Detroit by Cyndia Robinson, an interdisciplinary artist from the city. The business describes itself as an experimental artist residency and studio that treats nail technology as an artistic medium rather than only a beauty service.
The Nailhouse studio and soak room is where the residency's artists work and where collectors visit. Services are offered as commissions, so clients commission a piece of work and the price depends on its form, size and complexity. Two-dimensional works use the natural nail as a canvas for gel paint and detailed shaping. Three-dimensional sculptures are built from acrylic and gel, and assemblage works combine mixed media such as hard gels, metallic accents and encapsulation. Long-form sculptures are quoted individually. Each 2D or 3D work is finished with solid gel paint, included in the price, and collectors may choose up to two adornments on a piece before it counts as an assemblage.
The foot treatments, called immersions, come in three levels. The Quick Immersion includes a foot bath, an exfoliating scrub and gel paint. The Signature Immersion adds a foot soak, dead skin removal and a warm towel wrap. The Signature Emmersion is a dry treatment with no soak, covering shaping, cuticle contouring, dead skin removal and hydration therapy, finished with gel paint.
Craft, the education arm of the business, offers education, mentorship, licensing pathways and masterclasses for nail artists. The stated mission is to challenge institutional norms and make the field more inclusive by supporting artists, makers and admirers working where fine art and beauty meet.
The studio is open Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 8pm and Saturday from 10am to 6pm.
The business presents nail art as a recognized fine art form, blending beauty, adornment and artistry, and works through commissions for individual pieces.
