Cult Hair operates as a one-chair studio inside Sola Salon Studios in Cypress, close to the Orange County and LA County line and roughly twenty minutes from the beach cities. The room is decorated with taxidermy and oddities, and a horror movie plays on the TV unless a client would rather it didn't.

The studio is run by Joseline Munoz, who works as Josie. She has been behind the chair for over 14 years and continues to take classes and learn new techniques. Her work centers on vivid and creative color, color corrections, precision cuts and extensions, and she enjoys full transformations, unconventional color placement and lived-in shapes.

New clients begin with the inquiry form on the website. A $20 in-person consultation, held at the studio and not offered virtually, is credited toward the service booked, and prices marked with a plus sign are starting points, so the exact quote comes at that consult. New clients leave with written aftercare, product recommendations, product samples and a suggested rebooking date. Returning clients rebook through GlossGenius. Snacks and drinks are offered during the visit, and each appointment has the stylist's full attention.

Deposits hold a booking, are non-refundable and go toward the service price, and must be paid within 24 hours of booking. Afterpay and Klarna plans are accepted, larger extension appointments can be split into a down payment and a final payment, and Buy Now, Pay Later is available on the booking page for bookings from $50 to $4,000. Large transformations, especially lightening, often take two or three sessions about twelve weeks apart with color refreshes in between.

Thorough consultations, realistic expectations about how many sessions a result takes, attention to hair health and home maintenance, and clear explanations of the work at every step.

Application and removal for K-tip, sew-in and tape-in extensions, with removal required before reinstalling or changing method. Extension hair is ordered ahead of the install and is not included in application prices.
