A visit starts with a consultation before any hair is cut or colored. The stylist asks about your hair, what has been frustrating you and what you hope to achieve, then explains what is realistic and says when a result will take more than one visit. Prices depend on hair length, thickness and the time needed, and the stylist confirms the price at that consultation before work starts. A full written price list is available on request. New clients who are unsure what to book can start with a haircut and consultation, and a color consultation is suggested before big changes or corrections so the right appointment length can be booked.
Haircuts include a wash and finish unless the booking says otherwise. Cut options range from kids, teen, short, long and pixie cuts to curly and textured cuts, which are shaped with the natural curl pattern, and complete hair transformations that can run from long layers to a pixie or a full change of shape. Color includes single process color, highlights placed with foils or balayage that can be built up over several visits, and gloss or toner in clear or tinted finishes. Longer color appointments may require a deposit at booking.
Scalp evaluations are for anyone with a dry, oily, itchy or flaking scalp, or more shedding than usual. The stylist checks the scalp and hair section by section and returns with a care plan, which may suggest a clarifying wash, a treatment or a change in washing frequency. The salon says it always explains what it sees, even when it has nothing to sell for it. If something should be looked at by a doctor, the stylist says so and refers the client on. Hair regrowth and scalp balancing treatments can be booked after an evaluation when it points to them.
Bookings can be made online or by phone at +1 718-204-2096. A no-show without notice may be billed at 50 percent of the quoted price, and arriving more than 15 minutes late may result in a shorter service or a new booking. Redo requests made within 14 days of a visit cost nothing. Hours are Tuesday and Wednesday 10am to 7pm, Thursday 12pm to 9pm, Friday 11am to 8pm, and Saturday 10am to 6pm, with the salon closed on Sundays and Mondays. Street parking is usually available on Ditmars Blvd and nearby side streets. The salon is a brief walk from the Ditmars Blvd station, served by the N and W lines.
The salon says visits begin with a real conversation rather than a menu. It puts clients first and says it will not perform a service at the expense of hair health.
