Creating Confidence

Creating Confidence is a small waxing studio on West 63rd Street in Chicago, built around one licensed esthetician, Alize Garcia. Brazilian waxing is her specialty, and the menu extends to full body waxing, face waxing, brow shaping, brow lamination and tint, and skin lightening.

Before a visit, clients are given specific preparation steps. Waxing clients are asked to let their hair grow three to four weeks beforehand for the best results, and to exfoliate one to two days before a service while avoiding AHA or BHA chemical exfoliants in the week before. Arriving on time or a little early is requested. Wipes, tampons and pads are provided during appointments.

Skin lightening is a more involved service. It combines a chemical peel with a green sea peel, is booked every 10 to 14 days, and is not offered to clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Clients are advised to wear clothing they do not mind staining and to arrive early to complete a consent form. Anyone with a seafood allergy should mention it beforehand.

The studio also offers two hands-on courses: a five-hour Brazilian wax course priced at $750 and a six-hour brow lamination course priced at $600. Payment is accepted by cash, debit, credit and tap card, but not by Zelle, Cash App or Venmo. Booking and questions are handled by phone or text at (872) 204-6682, with text preferred.
