Corva Studio

Corva Studio is in La Mesa and was founded by Joanna, who is also its head stylist. The salon describes itself as a welcoming, comfortable place run by people it calls experts in beauty and personal care. The founder's view is that a salon needs a clean, inviting space and a team that respects and works with one another.

The hair menu covers balayage with highlights shaped to each client's preferences, and color correction that aims to find shades suited to a client's skin tone and personal style. Keratin smoothing is offered as a treatment that the salon says seals in moisture and helps repair damaged hair. Hand-tied hair extensions are available, which the salon says are virtually undetectable. The makeup service is airbrush makeup, which the salon says is finished to last all day.

The salon is open Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM and on Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM, and it is closed on Sunday. Appointments are requested through an online request page, where clients can choose a stylist. New clients pay a non-refundable retainer toward the service on the day of the appointment, by Zelle or cash. That retainer can move to a rescheduled appointment made within the allotted time, but it is not refunded. Cancellations made more than 48 hours ahead are rescheduled at no charge, while later cancellations are charged 50% of the service and no-shows or notice under 24 hours is charged in full. Refunds are not offered for custom color or extension appointments because of the time and product involved.

The founder's view is that a salon works when the space feels clean and inviting and the team respects and collaborates with one another.
