It also calls itself more than a salon, a community of independent artists, and it doubles as an open studio for artists, hairstylists, makeup artists and content creators.

The stylists are independent and self-employed, each running a business inside the salon and handling their own client concerns. Salon appointments are taken Wednesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 7 PM, by appointment only. Sunday through Tuesday the space is rented as a studio for creative workshops, small events, performances and production shoots, and it can be booked through Peerspace. Salon station rental and studio rental are both offered, with station rentals available by the hour, day or week.

A visit is built around the full appointment from start to finish, and stylists allow extra time for services. Stylists explain the process and what is realistic for a client's hair, lifestyle and job, then recommend professional aftercare products and show clients how to keep their hair up at home. Color work, blonding, color correction, creative color, going gray, extensions and Brazilian Blow Outs are billed hourly, and a 30 to 60 minute consultation is recommended first. Clients are asked to complete a New Client and Color Form before a first appointment or a color change.

Hair and makeup services are available for weddings, special events, photo shoots, red carpet appearances, engagement sessions, editorial productions, and events in destination locations. Bridal styling has been offered since 2004. Clients can book for one person or a group, either at the salon or on location across Southern California, and travel fees vary by location. Event bookings begin with a wedding consultation form.

Color is treated as a mix of art and chemistry, and stylists keep up with classes and newer products, techniques and technology. Stylists focus on education and on what a client's hair can realistically do, with blonding built up over several lightening steps so the hair's condition comes first.
