Clayton Dermatology Group has served patients in Plant City since 1987, when its founder, Dr. Catherine Ann Clayton, began practicing there. The practice is located just south of I-4 on Thonotosassa Road, about 15 minutes from Lakeland, Brandon and Temple Terrace and roughly 30 minutes from Tampa.
The practice covers three areas: medical dermatology for conditions such as acne, psoriasis, rashes, moles and warts, along with yearly skin cancer screening; cosmetic dermatology for wrinkles, scars, Botox, fillers, microneedling and chemical peels; and skin surgery for skin cancer, Mohs surgery, removal of nodules and unwanted lesions, skin biopsies and repair of torn or stretched earlobes. The practice says its physicians and staff have broad experience across skin conditions and current surgical methods, and that it takes early detection of skin cancer seriously.
For cosmetic work, the practice begins with a consultation so each patient can choose a single treatment or a combination suited to the signs of aging on their skin. Options range from Botox for muscle-driven lines and fillers for volume in areas such as the cheeks, lips and temples, to microneedling and chemical peels.
New patients are asked to arrive 15 minutes early to finish registration and a medical history. It helps to bring an insurance card, photo ID and a current medication list. Forms can be downloaded from the website ahead of the first visit. For a full body skin check, a gown is provided in the exam room. The practice accepts most major insurance plans as well as self-pay patients; those with questions about a particular plan are asked to call the office at (813) 752-0757.
The practice takes a consultation-first approach, matching each patient with treatments based on their goals and skin concerns, and describes its cosmetic work as gentle and artistic.
