CHQ

The Consult HQ, also known as CHQ, operates as CHQ Salon from Suite 208 at 629 J St in downtown San Diego. The salon occupies the second floor of a historic building and works by appointment only. Its services cover hair, makeup, bridal work and special events.

The salon open Tuesday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturday from 9am to 3pm, and is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Clients are asked to come alone. Extra guests or children are welcome only if they also receive a service from one of the artists. Wheelchair access is not currently available because of the building.

Downtown parking can be tight, particularly on Padres game days and during local events. The salon suggests the 6th and K Parkade at 289 Sixth Ave, paid street parking, rideshare, or a dropped-off arrangement.

The salon sets clear booking rules. Cancellations need 48 hours notice; a cancellation inside that window carries a fee of half the service price, which is not applied as credit toward future services. Clients running late should call, and once 15 minutes have passed the cancellation fee applies and the visit must be rebooked. Clients who miss an appointment or cancel without calling can no longer book with the artists, and the salon reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.

The salon is also looking for hair and makeup artists to join as booth renters, working independently within the salon. The salon describes itself as a leading editorial salon in downtown San Diego.
