Chocolate City Hair Braiding works as a booth rental space rather than a traditional salon with employees. Independent stylists, braiders and lash artists rent space here to run their own businesses, and the salon has two locations: one at 9720 Hwy 6, Suite 700 in Missouri City, and one at 11200 W Broadway St, 1410 STE 9 in Pearland.

The shared salon space has five chair stations, each with a mirror and full station setup, plus two shared wash bowls. Towels are provided and washed daily, and Wi-Fi and cleaning supplies come with the salon chair. There is also a private suite, a room with a sink and a lash table provided, and locker storage can be added for $15 per month.

Rates are $50 per day for a salon chair, $55 per day for a private suite, and $40 per day for a weekly regular chair, which is for stylists booking three or more days a week on a recurring basis. A workshop day rents the whole salon for a flat $300 for a full day, requires a deposit, and suits braiding classes and events; Sundays and Mondays have the most availability. Chair rentals are paid online by card at checkout, with Stripe processing fees added to the renter's total.

Renters pay only for the days they work and keep everything they earn, with no long-term lease and no commission. All chair rentals are final, though recurring bookings can be cancelled at any time. Weekly regular renters keep the same chair every week and get priority on workshop days.

Stylists must clean their station and any wash bowl they use after every client, and must carry their own liability insurance. Anyone offering a service that requires a Texas cosmetology or esthetics license must hold a valid one. Applications from new stylists are reviewed and answered within 48 hours.

Stylists set their own services, prices and booking process, and clients book them directly through Instagram, by phone or through the stylist's own booking link.
