Cheveux Exotique is owned by a mother and daughter, and its stylists have more than 50 years of combined experience. The salon works with all hair types and textures and focuses on natural hair care, so most of its menu is built around braids, locs, weaves, natural styles and relaxers.

The salon's outlook is that every hair texture deserves good care. It uses nourishing ingredients in its treatments and products, and it teaches clients how to look after their hair at home, including the products it sells for that purpose.

Visits are by appointment only, and walk-ins are not accepted. Bookings are made through the website and confirmed with a deposit that counts toward the total price, with the balance due after the service. Clients booking a new service are asked to have a consultation first so the stylist can assess the hair. Consultations can be done in person or virtually over FaceTime or WhatsApp, and a 15-minute virtual color consultation is required before any color service.

Policies are firm. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. Cancelling at least 24 hours ahead carries no fee, while cancelling within 24 hours is charged at 50% of the service price and a no-show at 100%. A card on file is required to apply these policies. There is a 10-minute grace period, a $20 late fee applies to arrivals 10 to 15 minutes late, and arriving 30 minutes late results in automatic cancellation. Unpaid fees must be cleared before new appointments can be booked. Payment is accepted in cash, by credit or debit card with a 3% processing fee, or by mobile payment. Children under 12 are not serviced.
