Chateau Avalon

Chateau Avalon opened in 2004 as a hotel intended as a place to get away from everyday routine. Over time it added a spa, meeting rooms and a glass greenhouse event space, which broadened its business to corporate retreats and weddings. It sits just off the highway near the Legends district, close to Kansas Speedway, Legends Outlets, restaurants and breweries. The hotel describes itself as a luxury boutique hotel and says it was placed second in GO Magazine's list of top 10 theme hotels in the US, and it reports seven award wins.

The 56 rooms are grouped into Prestige, Loft, Spa, Adventure and Chateau suites, and each was designed on its own. Adventure suites are themed, including the Tahitian Treehouse, Roman Dynasty, Camelot, Egyptian and Colorado suites. Spa suites have a jetted tub with a shower wand and no stand-up shower. The Double Queen Chateau Suite is the only double queen room and fits up to four guests. Each room has a mini fridge, and a guest-use microwave is on every floor near the ice machine. Guests get free on-site parking, housekeeping, concierge help with reservations and local recommendations, and a free shuttle to the Legends on Friday and Saturday evenings. Check-in starts at 4:00 PM with a government-issued photo ID, guests must be 21 or older, and check-out is at 12:00 PM. The property is smoke-free and does not allow candles, open flames or pets.

Chateau Spa is steps from the guest rooms and offers massage therapy, facial and skincare, body treatments and spa enhancements. Massage options include Swedish, deep tissue and hot stone, and the menu also includes reflexology, aromatherapy and specialty body scrubs. Spa services are by appointment, and booking at least 24 hours ahead is recommended, since appointments often fill 24 to 48 hours out. Cancellations or changes need at least 24 hours' notice to avoid a fee. D'Nile Bar & Lounge, on the first floor overlooking the patio, serves handcrafted cocktails, small plates and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and room service can deliver to suites.

For meetings, the hotel offers the Chateau Boardroom for up to 22 guests, the D'Nile Lounge & Bar for up to 26 seated or 45 cocktail-style guests, the Loft Lounge for about 6 to 10, and the London Lounge for about 8 to 12. Corporate groups of about 8 to 40 can meet for a single day or stay for several days with on-site suites. Ceremonies can also take place at the open-air Chateau Amphitheater, and rehearsal dinners can be held at D'Nile Lounge & Bar or its patio. Newly renovated getting-ready suites are available to couples. The hotel is not a full-service wedding planner, but it helps reserve spaces, recommends local vendors and coordinates guest room blocks. Property tours can be scheduled before booking, subject to availability.
